Learning Self-control

A lot of my shortcomings lead back to self-control, or my lack of. I feel that it has a great influence on many areas of my life. I was watching a show on Bravo titled Tabatha's Salon Takeover and she kept calling the employees "lazy and complacent." As I think of it I wonder if God looks at me and says the same thing. Lazy is bad enough being that it is only the act of being adverse to work or exertion. But to be complacent (Showing smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself) also is terrible. I don't want to be proud of doing a half ass job. I often start out with the best of intentions. I will be focused and motivated for a small amount of time but quickly lose it. FlyLady...............Day 1

When I walk into a room that is cluttered and messy, I feel defeated and overwhelmed. My head spins and I don't even know where to start. I have always been this way. When I was a child my parents would send me into my room to clean, I would stand there for hours and not get anything done. To me, cleaning is an endless cycle. By the time I do clothes, clean the kitchen, and start on another room; I have to start all over again. I never have time to just de-clutter things.  I recently realized that Abbie does the same thing. I get so frustrated at her when she doesn't keep anything organized, she takes forever to clean, and she gets distracted. How can I yell at her for begin like me? Living the Unfulfilled Christian Life

So many Christian's face the times when the fire in our hearts begins to die down and the overwhelming feelings of emptiness and sadness  begins to grow. We begin to drown in the mundane. As a wife and a mother, I often struggle with this. I am constantly trying to keep up with the cooking, cleaning, diaper changing, laundry, and the budget. It feels like a never ending cycle of stress and constant disappointment. The days melt together and the hours pass by slowly. I begin to feel robotic and even though there are no major things I am completing I am constantly and completely emotionally and physically drained. So often we can get distracted by everyday things such as work, family, and financial stressors. We lose a piece of the fire we once had that burned so bright for God and we sacrifice our time with God but save time for mind numbing activities, such as watching junk on television.  I remember being first saved.
