I guess I'm Disgusting and Unnatural

When responding to an open question on Cafemom about choosing to adopt outside of your race one woman wrote:

"No way!!!! sorry but i do not believe in inter racial anything. i was brought up that way and will bring my kids up that way. i think it is disgusting to mix races and unnatural. stick to your own kind, race and traditions. birds of a feather flock together...everyone discriminates in one form or the other it is human nature, survival of the fittest, classical conditioning."


This comment, along with many others on this post, broke my heart. I am not sure why I sometime am shocked at how things of this world are not pure and good. The idea that someone disagrees with me or finds my life choices to be "disgusting" and "unnatural" doesn't bother me quite as much as knowing that Abbie, Eb, and other beautiful biracial kids have to deal with it. Why is it that some adults are even meaner than children? 

It also saddens me that the person, who anonymously replied to the post, is living a cut off and bitter life. I have seen first hand how racism can dwell and fester in a person like an infection. I have also seen God take that same person, who almost eight years ago disowned me, and through His example of grace and love helped her grow. 

I pray that God will teach Abbie and Eb to pray for and have grace for those who hurt them as they grow older.

    Wow! I'm glad I didn't see that post. I would have gone off on that person! That type of ignorance is what unnecessarily divides this country. I'm glad my adopted parents didn't feel the same way. They are white and so am I, but they also adopted 5 children who weren't. So the poster figures that a kid should stay in a bad situation rather than find a loving home they need? That is so unbelievably sad!

      When I was discussing it with my oldest daughter she said, "She should have kept it in her cranky bank."

    I agree with you all babies are precious and it doesn't matter what their skin color. It's a heartless bitter person who believes that way.

    Very very sad.. My nephews are bi-racial.. I couldn't imagine a happy life without them..

I decided to take Abbie to the bookstore a little over a week ago, on Friday September 21st. I was in hope of finding some book series that I could get her to read that would spark a love of reading. I Could Have Just Died (Most Embarrassing Moment)

I haven't done a writing prompt from Mama Kat's Workshop, so when I saw that one of the prompts was to tell an embarrassing story I thought I just had to share. Hopefully, this will lift your day as it usually seems to get a good chuckle out of my friends and family. I don't usually embarrass easily, I contribute it to the fact that I am silly and usually like to do weird things. I have also stated that I like to be completely honest with people. There is a kind of freedom that comes with transparency. The day seemed like any other. We had gone to my mother in laws house to pick up Abbie, she was only a couple years old at the time. How NOT to Impress a Crush (Most Embarrassing Moment Part 2)

I recently did a post on my most embarrassing moment inspired by Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop. After writing it I had comments asking me to share the other embarrassing moment that I had mentioned in the other post. So here it goes... It was pretty bad.  During my sophomore year of high school there was a guy in my home room that I had a crush on. He was handsome, was in a band, and was funny. We shared the same group of friends. One night his parents were out of town and he was having a pool party at his house after his band preformed. It was going to be the coolest event. When we got there he showed all of the girls where we could go to change into our swim suits. I had the chance to change and joined everyone at the pool. It was the most fun time.
